Hobart

A curated activity & dining reference for those who want to experience Hobart with little humans in tow

A working harbour, a mountain at its back, and a slower rhythm.

Hobart is small, calm, and walkable, which makes it disproportionately easy with a toddler. Mornings in the city, an afternoon nap in the car on the drive somewhere green, back into the city for an early dinner. Pack layers; the weather turns four times before lunch - curated for you by R&R Away.

Getting Around & Other tips

You will need a car. Hobart's centre is walkable but everything good is twenty minutes away — Bonorong, MONA, the summit, the suburbs. Hire from the airport.

Within town, the waterfront and Salamanca are pram-friendly. Battery Point has narrow footpaths and steep streets.

Hobart restaurants book up faster than the city's pace suggests. Lock in dinners for the places you don’t want to miss, especially Friday and Saturday. The 5.30pm early sitting at most places is a parent's gift — the room is yours and you are back at the hotel by bedtime.

Until the next escape,
